Duties

(a) To assist in the operation of the Home Affairs Department's temporary shelters/ temporary cold shelters/ temporary night heat shelters in Community Halls and Community Centres when activated, including registration of shelter users, distributing meals, handling enquiries and complaints, patrolling the shelter and overseeing the work of contractual staff (such as security guards and cleansing staff); and
(b) To handle any other appropriate duties assigned.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service (Part-time) contract terms for a period of one year.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Day Shift (0830-1730): $59 per hour
Night Shift (1730-0830 the next day): $75 per hour
Unless one of the exemptions specified in the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 485) is applicable to the successful candidate, the Government will arrange to make contributions for the candidate to a registered MPF scheme. Other benefits such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance when applicable.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. (b) Completed forms, together with photocopies of academic result/certificates and employment proofs (e.g. employment certificates, reference letters, etc.) should reach the enquiry address below in person or by post on/before the closing date for application. For submission in person, the application should reach the enquiry address below by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date. For submission by post, the deadline is based on the stamp chop date. (d) Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation by phone in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
