An Artisan is mainly deployed on –
(a) Marine Parks and Marine Conservation : (i) assisting in law enforcement and patrol activities; (ii) assisting in maintenance of marine park or marine conservation facilities; (iii) operating and maintaining vessels; (iv) performing fishing duties and miscellaneous duties on board a vessel; and (v) general marine conservation duties.
(b) Fisheries Branch : (i) constructing, maintaining and repairing of fishing and fish farming gear and equipment; (ii) performing fish farming work, including overseeing the preparation of fish feed and feeding of fish; (iii) conducting fisheries surveys, including sampling of water, fish and other organisms for scientific measurements and observations; (iv) performing fishing duties and miscellaneous duties on board a vessel; and carrying out inspection of commercial fishing vessels and testing of their gear and equipment; and (v) assisting in law enforcement and patrol activities; and (vi) operating and maintaining vessels.
(Note: May be required to work in remote places with difficult access; work irregular hours and/or shift duties; work in inclement weather or during typhoon; and operate vessels.)
Terms of Appointment
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Master Pay Scale Point 5 ($16,790) to Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($20,270) per month
General Notes

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
