Entry Requirements

Obtained education level at Primary 6 or above, or equivalent. Capable of speaking fluent Cantonese and writing general Chinese and English.

Duties

Expand the section...

(1) To assist in the operation of the Home Affairs Department’s temporary shelters/ temporary cold shelters/ temporary night heat shelters in Community Halls and Community Centres when activated, including registration of shelter users, distributing meals, handling enquiries and complaints, patrolling the shelter and overseeing the work of contractual staff (such as security guards and cleansing staff); and
(2) To handle any other appropriate duties assigned.

Terms of Appointment

(1) Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of 12 months. \r\n(2) Part-time basis, with irregular working hours; and may need to work anytime on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays as required. \r\n(3) Required to work overnight or shift duty if necessary. \r\n

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Day Shift (0830-1730): $59 per hour
Night Shift (1730-0830 the next day): $75 per hour
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
