(a) To develop and review the curriculum for the subjects/courses of Physics (S4-6), Integrated Science (S4-6) and Science (S1-3) in the Science Education Key Learning Area, and to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the curricula;
(b) To plan, organise and conduct in-service professional development programmes for teachers as well as related training courses for laboratory technicians to facilitate the implementation of the curricula and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education;
(c) To plan, co-ordinate and develop the curriculum resources to enhance the learning and teaching of the curricula and STEM education;
(d) To plan, organise and conduct curriculum support programmes to schools and provide advice on matters related to implementation of science/STEM education (including holistic curriculum development, pedagogy, assessment, laboratory safety and management etc.);
(e) To liaise and cooperate with other government departments, tertiary institutions and relevant organisations on matters related to science/STEM education;
(f) To participate in curriculum development projects, such as piloting learning and teaching strategies, conducting case studies and school visits, to enhance the implementation of science/STEM education;
(g) To review textbooks and related resources materials;
(h) To organise and conduct curriculum-related and STEM education-related activities and events; and
(i) To undertake any other duties as assigned.
Terms of Appointment
Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 2.5 years.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
$70,590 per month
(a) 18 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. (c) Other fringe benefits include medical and dental benefits and, where appropriate, housing benefits.
