Entry Requirements

1. Have attained Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (See Note), or equivalent

2. Candidates should be holder of recognized Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma or Certificate in one of the following fields :-

(a) Electronic / Communications Engineering;
(b) Electrical Engineering;
(c) Mechanical Engineering;
(d) Computer Engineering;
(e) Information Systems / Information Technology; or
(f) Manufacturing Engineering.

(a) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.

(b) The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.

(c) ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

(d) Candidate will be required to take trade test.

Terms of Appointment

The successful candidate(s) will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms till 15 Oct 2020. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Bureau and the performance of the candidate.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HKD$15,800 per month
A gratuity is payable on satisfactory completion of the agreement. In compliance with the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485), the Security Bureau will arrange to make contributions for its employees to a registered mandatory provident fund scheme (MPF scheme). The gratuity payable for the agreement will be the sum which, when added to the Security Bureau’s contribution to the said MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary of substantive office drawn during the period of agreement.

The employee is entitled to 12 days paid annual leave. The eligibility of the employee for rest days, statutory holidays, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, would be in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).

Completed application form, together with photocopies of academic/professional qualifications, relevant certificates, official transcripts of studies and employment proof (i.e. employment certificates and/or reference letters), should reach the Enquiry Address below on or before 28 Nov 2019. Please quote the post title on the envelope. Please also affix sufficient postage for application submitted by post to avoid non-delivery of the application documents to the Enquiry Address due to insufficient postage. Applications which are late, not duly signed, incomplete / without the relevant supporting documents or submitted by fax/email will not be considered. Online application is not accepted.

Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation by post in about six to eight weeks for interview from the closing date for application.
