Entry Requirements

Candidates should have –
(a) (i) a Hong Kong Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism & Communication or Arts related studies, or equivalent; OR
(ii) an accredited Associate Degree or an accredited Higher Diploma, preferably in Journalism & Communication or Arts related studies, from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, or equivalent; and 1 year of experience in handling English news; AND
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination / Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (1)].

Candidates who –
(i) are able to work independently;
(ii) have sensitivity and knowledge of art and culture;
(iii) possess skill and experience relating to English news handling, studio directing, DV filming, non-linear editing, English script writing, interview conducting and multimedia production; and
(iv) possess skill and experience in managing social media platforms
will have an advantage.

(1) “Grade C” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (2) Candidates may be required to submit their previous productions to demonstrate their production skills and sit for a trade test.

Organising and directing the production of English TV current affairs programmes – duties include formulating TV programme ideas, planning and designing programme contents; undertaking research work; conducting interviews; scriptwriting and carrying out editing and post-production work; preparing publicity articles; managing social media platforms; and other duties assigned by supervisors. (Note: Required to work irregular hours / over-night shifts / weekends).

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on one-year non-civil service contract terms.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$20,035 per month
If the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the officer may be granted a gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, general holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms not less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(A) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.
