Entry Requirements

Candidates should have:-
(a) a Diploma or Higher Certificate from a Hong Kong university/Hong Kong polytechnic, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical college/technical institute in a subject relevant in science, engineering, education, social science, community services, business administration, management, public administration, event marketing and promotion, social work or equivalent;
(b) preference may be given to candidates with one years’ relevant full-time post-qualification working experience in education, social work, business management, liaison work, stakeholder engagement or planning and organization of events/publicity, preferably in environmental protection;
(c) met the language proficiency requirement of Level 2 (Note) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. (Note: “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth);
(d) good command of spoken and written English and Chinese;
(e) good personality and inter-personal communication skills, self-motivation and ability to work independently; and
(f) preference may be given to candidates with: (i) hands-on experience in managing social media for an organization; or (ii) knowledge and experience in computer applications (such as word processing in Chinese and English, spreadsheet and presentation software, etc.).

Duties

Main duties include:-
(a) to carry out site visits for rendering on-site support to estates, buildings, villages and other premises on practising waste reduction and recycling;
(b) to conduct education and promotional activities and events on proper waste separation at source and clean recycling, and promotion of Environmental Protection Department’s waste reduction and recycling initiatives and schemes;
(c) to reach out and provide support to property management companies and resident/tenant groups in carrying out publicity, education and promotion activities on waste reduction and clean recycling;
(d) to prepare materials for public education and promotion activities/events; and
(e) to undertake other duties pertaining to the work to be assigned, including but not limited to outreaching service, waste reduction and recycling, and waste management related duties.

(Other Job-related Requirements: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regard to the operational needs of the department. The successful candidate may be required to (a) work irregular hours and overtime, including evenings, weekends and public holidays; and (b) work outdoors.)

Terms of Appointment

The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$21,000 per month
14 days of paid annual leave will be granted to the successful candidate. The eligibility for rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity / paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, is in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary received during the contract period.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.
