An Electrical and Mechanical Engineer is deployed to work in one of the following areas -
(a) Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS)
(i) providing technical and administrative assistance in the implementation of accreditation programmes, particularly in areas where electrical, electronic or mechanical measurement or engineering expertise are required; and
(ii) co-ordinating and performing on-site assessments of laboratories, certification bodies and inspection bodies.
(b) Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL)
(i) taking charge of one or more laboratories of SCL in the development and maintenance of measurement standards as well as the provision and improvement of calibration services, particularly in electrical/mechanical metrology fields;
(ii) promoting and disseminating metrology knowledge and calibration techniques to industry;
(iii) liaising with international metrology organisations and participating in international metrology activities; and
(iv) supervising and training technical staff on standards and calibration work.
(c) Science Advisor’s Team
(i) carrying out the assessment of Research and Development project applications under the Innovation and Technology Fund on designated technological areas, preparing materials on their applications to the relevant project vetting panels and Technology Committees;
(ii) monitoring the implementation of the approved projects and dissemination of their results to the relevant industry sectors;
(iii) assisting in the consultation with the relevant industry sectors on their technological needs; and
(iv) keeping abreast of technological development in relevant engineering sectors.
Terms of Appointment
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.\r\n\r\n
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Master Pay Scale Point 32 ($66,945) per month to Master Pay Scale Point 44 ($105,175) per month

(i) Holders of professional/academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
