1. Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
2. For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
 

Duties

A Property Attendant is mainly deployed on (a) preventing trespassing into government premises; (b) patrolling and safeguarding government premises and properties to ensure that lights/air-conditioners/fans in unoccupied areas are turned off, report faults and irregularities and deal with emergencies; and (c) maintaining records of vehicles and visitors entering and leaving the government premises, if necessary.

In addition, a Property Attendant is subject to posting and transfer within the department or in other bureaux/departments to fill vacancies and carry out different duties in the same grade when the need arises. He/she is also required to work shifts and, when necessary, perform overtime work; and perform duties during adverse weather conditions, including typhoon warning periods, and emergencies.

Terms of Appointment

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 3 (HK$13,885 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 13 (HK$16,975 per month)

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the trade test/interview without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Application Forms [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)] are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed application forms, together with photocopies of certificates and transcripts in support of the academic qualifications (both local and non-local), should reach the Appointment Unit, Government Logistics Department, 9/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong not later than 16 January 2020. Please state on the envelope “Application for the post of Property Attendant”. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. Applicants may also apply online through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Candidates who apply online should submit supporting documents mentioned above to the above address not later than 23 January 2020 (the online application number should be quoted on the envelope and the copies of all supporting documents). Please ensure that sufficient postage is paid. Applications which are incomplete, late, submitted by fax or email, not duly signed, not made in the prescribed form, or not accompanied by photocopies of academic certificates, transcripts of studies and other supporting documents as requested will not be processed.

Candidates who are selected for trade test/interview will normally receive an invitation in about 10 to 12 weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who do not receive an invitation may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
