Entry Requirements

Candidates should -
(a) have a Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department Aircraft Maintenance Licence (HKAR-66)
with the following categories and required experience:
(i) Aircraft Engineer (Airframe & Engine)
‧Category B1.1 or B1.3; and
‧5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a supervisory position; or
(ii) Aircraft Engineer (Avionics)
‧Category B2; and
‧5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a supervisory position;
(b) have a sound knowledge of a related licence category with the ability to obtain the
licence category endorsement; and
(c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in English
Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or
the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and be
able to communicate in Chinese.

(1) Candidates who could meet the entry requirements by the time of offer of appointment
would also be considered.
(2) For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B)
in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in
English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(3) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting
a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be
assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate
weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment.

Mainly deployed on –
‧supervision and certification of aircraft maintenance and servicing activities in
accordance with Hong Kong Aviation Requirements 145 and Government Flying Service
engineering procedures;
‧training of maintenance staff; and
‧any other duties as required by the Controller, Government Flying Service.
(Note: The appointees are required to wear uniform and work shifts/irregular hours.)

Terms of Appointment

New recruits will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three\r\nyears. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the\r\nprevailing permanent terms.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

General Disciplined Services (Officer) Pay Scale Point 22 (HK$72,645 per month) to General Disciplined Services (Officer) Pay Scale Point 36 (HK$125,515 per month).

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

be invited to attend written examination and/or interview.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever
possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to
attend the interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting.

appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong
institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their
qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry
qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by
mail to the enquiry address below.

Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centre of the
Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be
downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).

is submitted by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date
of application.To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please
ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient

be delivered to this department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the

Candidates must state clearly the results of English Language obtained in the public
examinations on the application forms. For qualifications awarded by local institutions/Hong Kong
Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the relevant transcripts/diplomas/certificates/other
qualification documents are not required to be submitted at this stage of application.
As for qualifications obtained from institutions outside Hong Kong, copies of the relevant
transcripts/diplomas/certificates or other qualification documents should be submitted
together with the completed application forms. For applicants who apply on-line, they
should submit copies of the required supporting documents by post to the below enquiry
address on or before 30 January 2020. The online application number should be quoted
on the envelope and copies of the supporting documents.

If candidates fail to provide the supporting information / documents as required, their
applications may not be considered. Applicants are encouraged to provide their email
