Entry Requirements

The candidate should -
(1) have completed Form 4 (subjects studied include English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics) or equivalent;
(2) be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English or Chinese;
(3) be able to communicate in written and spoken in at least one of the following South Asian languages including Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog, Hindi or Urdu;
(4) possess general office computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, Internet etc.;
(5) have passion and be patient when serving the public and communicating with people; and
(6) be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Note 1: Candidates with experience in coordination and liaison work for education / training programmes and publicity events and having good understanding of the culture, customs and traditions of at least one South Asian ethnicities will be an advantage.

Duties

To assist the officers in Community Emergency Preparedness (CEP) Division:
(1) To organise and arrange education / training programmes, publicity and community events on fire safety and CEP for non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) communities;
(2) To liaise and coordinate with various NEC communities, organisations and related parties for organising fire safety and CEP education / training programmes, publicity and community events;
(3) To assist in the production of educational and publicity materials;
(4) To prepare equipment and materials and provide on-site support for various fire safety and CEP education / training programmes, publicity and community events; and
(5) To perform any duties as assigned by supervisors.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months from the date of appointment subject to review for further renewal. Normally, selected candidates will be required to work a maximum of 17.5 hours per week and a minimum of 60 hours per month subject to the arrangement of the supervisors.

HK $68 per hour

General Notes

(a) Non-civil service vacancies are not posts on the civil service establishment. Candidates appointed are not on civil service terms of appointment and conditions of service. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
