Entry Requirements

Candidates should have:
(a) a post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics, inclusive of an internship, or equivalent; AND
(b) (i) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or (ii) Level 2/ Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note (1)], or equivalent.

(1) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. 

Duties

(a) To conduct telephone and face-to-face interviews with respondents for collecting height and weight measurements and detailed food consumption data at any offices of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, schools and premises of survey respondents;
(b) To provide each respondent with a brief dietary summary based on the respondents’ reported diet;
(c) To update the supporting databases in the computerized Hong Kong Diet System;
(d) To provide support in relation to publicity and programme planning activities;
(e) To answer enquires on survey matters and to perform other fieldwork related duties; and
(f) To perform any other duties assigned by senior officers.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period not more than 12 months. Further employment may be offered at the absolute discretion of the Department, subject to operational need of the Department and satisfactory performance and conduct of the staff.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$33,350 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays, annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
Gratuity (only applicable to appointee with contract of 12 months): A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
