Entry Requirements

Applicants should -
(a) be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(b) be full-time undergraduate students of local or overseas post-secondary institutions (who will advance to the third or senior year of studies in the 2020/21 academic year);
(c) have excellent command of both written and spoken Chinese and English. Putonghua will be an advantage;
(d) have good organisation and liaison skills, with ability to work independently;
(e) have strong communication and interpersonal skills;
(f) be proficient in PC applications, including MS Work, Excel, and Powerpoint, etc

Position 1:
(a) To assist in the implementation of the District Sports Programme Funding Scheme, including the vetting of the application forms, monitoring the programmes run by the District Sports Associations (DSAs), collating the reports submitted by the DSAs and answering any general enquiries relevant to the Scheme.
(b) To assist the administration of the Opening Up School Facilities for Promotion of Sports and Development Scheme, including handling of applications, creation and maintenance of the database for the participating schools and sports organisations, conducting spot-checks for the programmes run by the sports organisations, preparing promotional materials and answering any general enquiries relevant to the Scheme.
(c) To provide administrative support for the operations of Arts and Sport Development Fund (Sports portion), including maintenance of application register and vetting of programme reports.
(d) To support the administration of Student Athlete Support Scheme, including the collation and vetting of the reports submitted by the participating schools.
(e) To assist in any ad-hoc duties involved in promotion of community sports.

Position 2:
(a) To assist in the implementation of various branding measures to project the image of the “M” Mark system, including but not limited to the following :
(i) to arrange publicity materials for “M” Mark events;
(ii) to maintain and update the dedicated website for the “M” Mark system;
(iii) to stage roving exhibitions in public venues;
(b) To assist in conducting researches on the modus operandi of the lessees holding private recreational leases and conversion of utilisation data of these lessees into a designated data management system; and
(c) To provide support in public engagement, arranging meetings and site visits.

Terms of Appointment

Summer interns are engaged under non-civil service appointment. The employment period is about 1 to 2 months from June to August 2020. They are normally required to work 44 hours per week, inclusive of meal breaks.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$10,500 per month
Unless otherwise provided, rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays, paid leave, sickness days and sickness allowance, where appropriate, are generally in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57). Summer Interns are subject to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 485).

General Notes

Hong Kong students studying in local post-secondary institutions should apply through the Student Affairs Offices/Career Centres of their respective institutions. They are advised to note the deadlines set by the respective institutions. Direct applications from local students will not be considered.

Students studying in non-local institutions should download application forms from the Civil Service Bureau's web site (http://www.csb.gov.hk/english/admin/appoint/782.html). The completed application form, together with the applicant’s resume, copies of official transcripts and a letter certifying the student status (bearing the letter head of the post-secondary institutions they are currently enrolled on) should reach the enquiry address below by post on or before 18 May 2020. Candidates not made in the prescribed application forms for the summer internship programme (rev.1/2020), or submitted by fax / e-mail will not be accepted.

Please mark “Application for the Summer Intern (Recreation and Sport)” on the envelope. (The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application.) Applicants should ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting to avoid unsuccessful delivery of application. Any underpaid mail items will be returned or disposed of by the Hongkong Post. Applications which are late, incomplete or without the relevant supporting documents will not be considered. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about six weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
