(b) possess good communication skills.
[Note: Possession of work experience in horticulture, arboriculture, nursery and turf maintenance will be an advantage.]

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is inviting applications for the position of Horticultural Helper. Successful candidates will be deployed to work at recreation venues at the discretion of the LCSD. 

Duties

(a) To assist in performing general horticultural and turf maintenance work in parks and playgrounds (mainly outdoor);
(b) To supervise horticultural and turf maintenance services contract and report regularly;
(c) To assist in organising greening promotional activities; and
(d) To assist venue management in other general duties.

The conditioned working hours are 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks). Appointed candidates may be required to perform shifts duties, work irregular hours and overtime (including on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays). Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for about twelve months.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$11,505 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s web site (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
(2) Completed application forms should reach the enquiry address on or before the closing date. Please specify on the envelope “Application for Horticultural Helper”. Applicants should ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting so as to avoid unsuccessful delivery of application. Any underpaid mail items will be returned or disposed of by the Hongkong Post. Applications which are incomplete, late, or submitted by fax or email, or not duly signed, or not made in the prescribed form will not be considered.
(3) Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation within 1 to 2 weeks from the closing date for applications. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
