Entry Requirements

Applicants must –
(a) be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(b) be full-time post-secondary students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree;
(c) have completed their second or third year of study under the four-year university curriculum; and
(d) not have completed or be studying their final year of study before the internship period commences.

(a) To conduct research work on selected subjects ;
(b) To assist in event coordination work and logistics support / arrangements ;
(c) To assist in publicity campaigns and handle enquiries and complaints from the general public; and
(d) To assist in general office administration, records management and other related matters.

Terms of Appointment

Period of Internship: July to August 2020 (around 2 months)\r\n\r\nSuccessful interns will be engaged on non-civil service terms and will be required to work 44 hours per week. The actual hours of work may vary depending on operational needs. Overtime work, if necessary, will be compensated by time-off in lieu.\r\n

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$10,500 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), sick leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(a) Summer interns must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(c) Summer interns are not posts on the civil service establishment. Students appointed are not on civil service terms of appointment and conditions of service. Candidates appointed are not civil servants and will not be eligible for posting, promotion or transfer to any posts in the Civil Service.
(d) The entry pay, terms of appointment and conditions of service to be offered are subject to the provisions prevailing at the time the offer of appointment is made.
(e) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the interview.
(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he / she will be invited to attend the selection interview without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. How to apply

Students studying in local post-secondary institutions MUST apply through the Student Affairs Offices / Career Centres of your respective institutions. You are advised to note the deadlines set by the respective institutions. Applications not submitted through the Student Affairs Offices / Career Centres of respective institutions will NOT be considered.

Students studying in non-local post-secondary institutions must download application forms from the Civil Service Bureau's web site (http://www.csb.gov.hk/english/admin/appoint/782.html). The completed application form, together with (i) a covering letter (including the reasons for applying for the internship and the expected achievement(s) upon participation of the programme); (ii) the applicant’s resume; (iii) copies of official transcripts; and (iv) a letter certifying the student status (bearing the letter head of the post-secondary institutions they are currently enrolled on) should reach the enquiry address below by post or by email (hr@itc.gov.hk) on or before 29 May 2020. Applications not made in the prescribed application forms for the summer internship programme (rev.1/2020), or submitted by fax will NOT be accepted.

Please mark “Application for Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2020” on the envelope or email. The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application. Applicants should ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting to avoid unsuccessful delivery of application. Any underpaid mail items will be returned or disposed of by the Hongkong Post. Applications which are late, incomplete or without the relevant supporting documents will NOT be considered. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about three weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

As notifications will be sent to applicants by email, applicants should provide an accurate email address in their application forms. Applicants are responsible for checking their e-mails to ensure that the notification will be duly received.
