Entry Requirements

Candidates should have:
(a) a Bachelor degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent;
(b) (i) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or (ii) Level 2/ Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note (a)], or equivalent;
(c) Minimum 2 years' post-qualification working experience in promotion / marketing of retail businesses, preferably for a group of markets or similar retail facilities;
(d) Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese;
(e) Good communication and interpersonal skills; and
(f) Computer application knowledge for preparation of reports and returns.

(a) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. 

Duties

(a) To assist in formulating overall strategies, approaches and implementation plans for promoting and revitalizing public markets managed by Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD), capitalizing on his/her experience in the management and marketing of markets or similar retail facilities;
(b) To draw up annual promotion plan and to plan, organize and implement programmes to enhance the patronage of FEHD markets, including outreaching and impactful promotion campaigns which target people who currently do not patronize FEHD markets and put more emphasis on selected FEHD markets which will significantly benefit from the enhanced market promotion measures;
(c) To prepare various kinds of publicity materials to enhance the vibrancy of markets;
(d) To conduct market researches and analyses on ways to attract patronage or other researches/studies which could facilitate the formulation and review of marketing strategies and implementation plans;
(e) To make recommendations on cost-effective ways to enhance the market facilities for improving the operating environment of FEHD markets so as to increase their patronage;
(f) To assist in proposing designs for beautification projects for selected markets; and
(g) To perform any other duties as assigned by the seniors.
(Remarks: May be required to work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays depending on operational needs.)

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period not more than 12 months. Further employment may be offered at the absolute discretion of the Department, subject to operational need of the Department and satisfactory performance and conduct of the staff.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$32,030 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays, annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
Gratuity (only applicable to appointee with contract of 12 months): A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
