Entry Requirements

Candidates should:
(a)(i)have completed an approved apprenticeship or other approved course of training in painting ; or
(ii)have at least four years’ experience in painting;
(b)have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent;
(c)have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard; and
(d)be able to pass a trade test at the appropriate level.

For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects. 

Duties

An Artisan (Painter) is mainly deployed on general painting work.
[Remarks:May be required to (i) perform emergency/shift duties and work outdoor in remote areas or during rigorous conditions; (ii) work in Marine Police Forward Bases and on board government vessels; and will be required to wear uniform and protective clothing.]

Terms of Appointment

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Master Pay Scale Point 5 ($17,675 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($21,340 per month)

Application Forms (G.F. 340 [(Rev. 3/2013)]) are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. Completed application forms, together with copies of certificates / transcripts and documents in support of the academic / technical qualifications and work experience, submitted in person or by post should reach the contact address below on or before the closing date for application (the last postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application). Please specify “Application for the post of Artisan (Painter)” on the envelope. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to the Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate.
