An Assistant Education Officer (Mathematics) is mainly deployed on taking up teaching duties up to senior secondary level in penal institutions of the Correctional Services Department. (Note: Subject to the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance)
Terms of Appointment
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Master Pay Scale (MPS) Point 15 (HK$31,750) to MPS Point 33 [Note (1)] (HK$73,775) per month.
General Notes
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.
(b) Civil service vacancies are posts on the civil service establishment. Candidates selected for these vacancies will be appointed on civil service terms of appointment and conditions of service and will become civil servants on appointment.
(c) The entry pay, terms of appointment and conditions of service to be offered are subject to the provisions prevailing at the time the offer of appointment is made.
(d) Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical and dental benefits, and where appropriate, assistance in housing.
(e) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the selection interview.

Application Forms [G.F. 340 (Rev.3/2013)] are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
Candidates should submit their application forms together with the copies of their official transcripts and certificates in support of all relevant qualifications obtained (e.g. degree, teacher training, language proficiency level, CRE and Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (LPAT) results) and a detailed account of their academic work and relevant experience in a prescribed supplementary information form (SIF) which can be downloaded from the homepage of the Correctional Services Department at https://www.csd.gov.hk/images/doc/recruit/recruit_vacancy/SIF.pdf.
Completed application form with the SIF and all copies of the required supporting documents should reach the enquiry address on or before the closing date for application (i.e. 9 July 2020). Applicants are encouraged to provide their email addresses on the application forms. Please specify “Application for the post of Assistant Education Officer (Mathematics)” on the envelope.
Applications not made in the prescribed form or which are incomplete, late or without provision of the prescribed SIF and all copies of the required supporting documents will not be considered. Applications submitted by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will NOT be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Candidates who apply online should submit the prescribed SIF and copies of the required supporting documents within one week after the closing date for application (i.e. on or before 16 July 2020) by post to the Appointments Unit, Correctional Services Department. The online application number should be quoted on the envelope and on all the required supporting documents.
Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about two months from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for the interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
