Entry Requirements

Candidates should possess –
(a) (i) Level 2 or above in five subjects (including Mathematics) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent [see Notes (1) & (2)]; or (ii) Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects (including Mathematics) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Notes (2) & (3)];
(b) Language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent [see Note (3)];
(c) Good knowledge in Chinese and English word processing and in the application of common business software including Microsoft Office Word and Excel; and
(d) At least six years’ full-time working experience related to the provision of clerical/office support. Preference will be given to candidates possessing working experience in the government or public bodies.

(1) For appointment purpose, \"Attained with Distinction\" in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE. \"Attained\" in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE.
(2) The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
(3) For appointment purpose, Grade C and Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 3 and Level 2 in Chinese Language and English Language respectively in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(4) At the time of application, applicants should possess relevant academic qualifications.
 

Duties

(a) To perform general clerical duties such as receiving, dispatching, photocopying, faxing documents, handling telephone calls, typing, word-processing, operating computer software, etc.;
(b) To perform general filing duties such as filing of correspondences/emails; retrieving documents, maintaining registers on loose minutes and incoming correspondences, etc.;
(c) To assist in providing logistical support to meetings, functions and duty visits such as consolidating information folders, arranging transport, booking and setting up venues, preparing name plates and stationery, etc.;
(d) To seek price quotations from suppliers in relation to procurement of services, office furniture and equipment;
(e) To carry out occasional secretarial duties when relevant officers are on leave and perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers; and
(f) May be required to perform duties beyond normal office hours.

Terms of Appointment

The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$18,795 per month
(a) Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms not less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(b) An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend selection interview.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview without being subject to further shortlisting. (a) Application Form [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)] is obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (https://www.csb.gov.hk).
(b) Completed application form, together with copies of public examination results, academic certificates, qualification certificates, employment proof as well as other supporting documents should reach the address stated below on or before the closing date and time, with the envelope clearly marked with “Application for the position of Contract Clerk”. On-line applications are not accepted.
(c) If candidates fail to provide the supporting documents as requested in (b) above, their applications will not be considered. Applications not made in the prescribed form or which are incomplete or late will not be considered.
(d) To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will be returned to the senders or disposed of by the Hongkong Post.
