Entry Requirements

Candidates should have -
I. (a)(i) Level 2 or equivalent [Note (1)] or above in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in the Hong Kong Diploma Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or (ii) Level 2 [Note (2)] / Grade E or above in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(b) At least 8 years' full-time working experience in customer or counter services (At least 2 years of which are at supervisory level and preference will be given to candidates with working experience in the public sector);
OR
(c) Form 5 standard, or equivalent; and
(d) At least 15 years' full-time working experience in customer or counter services (At least 5 years of which are at supervisory level and preference will be given to candidates with working experience in the public sector);
II. Knowledge of computer application in MS Word and Excel;
III. Knowledge of Chinese word processing; and
IV. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in handling Transport Department’s licensing applications.

(1) “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE; (2) ‘Grade E’in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth; (3) Candidates should state clearly in the application details of academic qualifications, and working and supervisory experience in customer/counter service. For applicants holding qualifications obtained from academic institutions outside Hong Kong, please attach copies of your diplomas/certificates; (4) Photocopies of supporting documents will not be returned to applicants; (5) Applications with incomplete or unclear information will not be considered; and (6) Candidates are required to undertake a 15-minute job-relating test if he/she is invited to attend the selection interview.

Responsible for supervising licensing, permit or related services of the Licensing Offices, Ex-gratia Payment Unit or Cross Boundary Unit of the Transport Department, including processing licence/ permit applications with departmental computer systems, performing service counter duties, preparing correspondences, statistical data and reports, interviewing members of the public in person, answering public enquiries and complaints, and performing any other duties assigned by senior officers.

(Note: May be required to work irregular hours, shift-duties and overtime.)

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms up to a maximum period of 12 months.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$22,840 per month
Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service. Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Government to the MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. The eligibility of the employee for rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the enquiry address.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed applications should reach the following address on or before the closing date for application. Please specify the title of the post being applied for on the envelope. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, applicants should ensure that sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Any underpaid mail items will be rejected.
