Entry Requirements

Candidates must
(a) be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(b) be full-time Year 2 or above students of undergraduate or post-graduate programmes in post-secondary institutions;
(c) be fluent in both Cantonese and English and have attained ‘Level 3’ or above in English Language and Chinese Language [See Note] in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(d) be proficient in using Microsoft Office application.

(1) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in English Language and Chinese Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. 

Duties

The duties, which require meticulous attention to detail, include —
(a) assisting in the works associated with the Hong Kong e-Legislation (HKeL), an official database of Hong Kong legislation (e.g. system testing and enhancement);
(b) assisting in the verification of legislation for the HKeL (including compilation and publication works);
(c) conducting research and carrying out clerical work; and
(d) performing such other duties as assigned by supervisors from time to time.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service terms. The employment period is from September 2020 to March 2021. They will be required to work during office hours from Monday to Friday on either a regular or ad-hoc basis. The actual hours of work will depend on the operational needs of the Department and the availability of the successful candidates.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$62 per hour
Subject to the statutory requirements of Employment Ordinance, Employees’ Compensation Ordinance and Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance as appropriate.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the above enquiry address. (h) Interview is not required. Candidates who do not receive notification in 20 weeks after the closing date for application may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
