Entry Requirements

Candidates should have –
(a) (i) Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or (ii) Level 2 (Note 3)/Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; and
(b) meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and
(c) be able to read and write Chinese and English; and
(d) be able to speak fluent Cantonese, Putonghua and English.

(1) For appointment purpose, “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
(2) The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
(3) For appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(4) Candidates should possess basic computer operation knowledge.
(5) Working experience related to fieldwork in statistical surveys is preferable. 

Duties

Survey Interviewers are mainly deployed to –
(1) assist in manning Census Service Centres or field centres and handle enquiries related to the 2021 Population Census and other related duties;
(2) assist in training temporary field workers during the 2021 Population Census;
(3) supervise the work performed by temporary field workers in telephone interviews or face-to-face interviews and handle incidents in Census Service Centres or field centres; and
(4) collect and verify statistical information and assist respondents in completing the survey forms by conducting telephone interviews and visiting sampled households and business establishments under the supervision of Census and Survey Officers.
(Note: The post-holder is required to work irregular hours and/or to undertake a substantial amount of interviewing duties, including telephone interviews and face-to-face interviews by visiting the respondents in person.)

Terms of Appointment

(1) Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 6 months. Further renewal of contract will be subject to the candidate’s performance and service needs.\r\n(2) The appointee will be required to work 44 hours per week. Actual working hours may vary depending on operational needs.\r\n(3) Subject to the exigency of services, the appointee will be required to work irregular hours and overtimes, including Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday.\r\n(4) Working place(s):\r\n(i) Any offices of Census and Statistics Department; and\r\n(ii) Premises of selected survey respondents.\r\n

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$18,795 per month
The eligibility for the annual leave, rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(1) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the selection interview.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (7) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.

Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate.
