Entry Requirements

(a) Be admitted as solicitors in Hong Kong or any one of the recognized jurisdictions as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance with at least one year of relevant post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably in handling legal matters relating to employment, education and school management;
(b) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [Note (iii)];
(c) Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese;
(d) Be proficient in basic Information Technology knowledge;
(e) Knowledge in the education sector preferred; and
(f) May be required to take a written test.

(i) Applicants with less than one year of relevant PQE may also apply but will be offered a salary at an appropriate level lower than $50,530 per month if selected.
(ii) Applicants should give a detailed account of their experience in their application forms together with a full C.V. which should include (a) gradings of subjects taken in public examinations from secondary education onwards (with exact dates of scoring the results); (b) results of LLB and PCLL or other legal professional examinations, listing the gradings of the subjects taken (with copies of transcripts and certificates); (c) exact dates and place of admission; and (d) employment records with detailed description of duties.
(iii) For appointment purpose, 'Grade E' in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 2' in English Language and Chinese Language in the 2007 HKCEE or henceforth.

Duties

(a) To provide legal advice, and undertake liaison and coordinating work with relevant government departments relating to the review of the Grant Schools Provident Fund (GSPF) Rules and Subsidized Schools Provident Fund (SSPF) Rules;
(b) To provide legal advice on the enhancement/amendment of the G/SSPF Rules with respect to relevant ordinances and regulation;
(c) To prepare and draw up the report including recommendations of the review;
(d) To discuss and exchange views with relevant government departments, such as the Department of Justice, and provide legal advice on the formulation of a comprehensive application and approval mechanism on the collection of other charges by private schools;
(e) To provide legal advice on matters relating to school management and administrative issues;
(f) To undertake legal research and conduct analysis; and
(g) To perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for six months.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$50,530 per month
14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave / paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
