Entry Requirements

Candidates should have –
(a)(i)a Hong Kong Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism and Communication, or equivalent; and 4 year’s relevant work experience in broadcasting or journalism; OR
(ii)an accredited Associate Degree or an accredited Higher Diploma, preferably in Journalism and Communication, from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, or equivalent; and 6 year’s relevant work experience in broadcasting or journalism; AND
(b)met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (1)].

Candidates who possess –
(i)fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua;
(ii)good broadcasting voice;
(iii)good command of computer and Chinese word-processing;
(iv)work experience in writing and editing local, international, financial or sports news stories;
(v)sound knowledge of current affairs; and/or
(vi)work experience in managing social media platforms
will have an advantage.

(1) “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (2) Candidates may be required to sit for a trade test. 

Duties

(i) To gather, write, edit and proofread local, Mainland, international and financial news programmes, as well as special topics and feature stories to meet the needs of various platforms, including radio, television, website, mobile platforms, etc.; (ii) to assist senior officers in manpower deployment, planning story ideas, as well as following up on news events; (iii) to host news programmes and produce current affairs special programmes; and (iv) to station in the Mainland for news gathering on a regular basis is required. (Note: The post holder is required to (1) work irregular hours / over-night shift, and be on duty on Sundays and public holidays; and / or (2) work overseas or in the Mainland.)

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on one-year non-civil service contract terms.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$38,595 per month
If the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct, the officer may be granted a gratuity which, when added together with the Government’s contribution to MPF scheme, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, general holidays, annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms not less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

(A)Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.
