Entry Requirements

(a) A Bachelor’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, in science/engineering related to life sciences, preferably in biomedicine or healthcare subjects;
(b) A minimum of 10 years of full-time work experience in account management, business development, consulting, project management and/or sales and marketing in the life sciences and health tech industries;
(c) Good knowledge of and experience in the life sciences and health tech ecosystems. Prior work experience in investment promotion, marketing communications or economic development would be an advantage;
(d) Extensive business networks within the life sciences and health tech sectors, including in the startup ecosystem and/or investment community; and
(e) Fluency in English, Cantonese and Putonghua. Proficiency in another language will be an advantage.

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) is looking for a passionate professional to join its Innovation & Technology (I&T) sector as Deputy Head of I&T (Life Sciences and Health Technology) to drive our investment promotion work in this field and “connect the dots” amongst stakeholders. You will leverage your sector knowledge, industry experience and network to promote Hong Kong as an innovative life sciences and health tech hub for global research collaboration and industry development. Working with our global network, you will attract and support leading companies from overseas and the Mainland to set up and /or expand their operations in and via Hong Kong.

You will need to demonstrate:
• extensive knowledge and working experience in one or more of the life sciences fields (such as pharmaceuticals, medical device, advanced therapeutics, biomedical research and development, and healthcare technologies) gained in Hong Kong and/or globally;
• strong business acumen and proven record of performance in client-facing activities with savvy marketing and business development skills in the life sciences and health technology industries;
• excellent track record of generating leads and capable of managing relationship with ecosystem stakeholders, such as technology parks, universities, research institutions, innovation and co-creation labs, industrial organisations, investor groups, corporates, etc.;
• excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and public speaking skills in English and Putonghua; and
• knowledge of and good understanding of Hong Kong’s business environment and familiarity of business opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area would be an advantage.

Duties
(i) To develop and implement strategies and plans to promote Hong Kong as a leading life sciences and health tech hub, attract and support overseas and Mainland companies in the life sciences and health tech industries set up and expand in and via the city;
(ii) To develop and manage effective key strategic and stakeholder engagement to strengthen our network and raise our profile in the life sciences and health tech ecosystems via investment promotion and marketing activities;
(iii) To formulate briefs, presentations and thought leadership materials in specific I&T topics relevant to life sciences and health tech;
(iv) To drive overall performance of the team to achieve performance targets as well as to develop and provide value-added services to newly set up companies and those already in Hong Kong with enhanced aftercare services;
(v) To act as a team leader to coach, motivate and support team members to provide value-added client-centric services and promotional initiatives;
(vi) To ensure quality performance, financial and operational management is adopted with up to date and proper records kept in a timely manner in the Customer Relationship Management System;
(vii) To represent InvestHK including public speaking and do interviews;
(viii) To support the Head of I&T and take upon the acting role when necessary; and
(ix) To perform other administrative and ad hoc duties as required.

The position may require some investment promotion visits in the Mainland and overseas.

Terms of Appointment

Successful applicant will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for normally 24 months. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the department and the performance and conduct of the applicant.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$85,870 per month
(a) An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period; and
(b) Applicant appointed will be granted 14 days of annual leave. Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/ paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted mainly in line with the provisions of the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
