Entry Requirements

Applicants should –
(a) be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
(b) be full-time students in post-secondary institutions;
(c) not be studying in or have just completed their final year of study before the internship period commences;
(d) obtained Level 3 or above in both Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (for appointment purpose, “Grade C” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth); and
(e) have basic knowledge in computer applications and research skills on the Internet.

Summer interns are mainly deployed –
(a) to assist in researches on topical issues related to business facilitation initiatives, streamlining measures on licensing and government services, youth development and social innovation and entrepreneurship;
(b) to provide administrative support in the daily operation;
(c) to perform any other assigned duties.

Terms of Appointment

Summer interns are engaged under non-civil service appointment. The employment period is from mid-June to August 2020. They are normally required to work 44 hours per week.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$10,500 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays, sickness days, where appropriate, will be granted to successful candidates in line with the provisions in the Employment Ordinance. They are subject to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 485).

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(e) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.
(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to any further shortlisting criteria.
(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the below enquiry address.
(h) If candidates fail to provide all information requested in the recruitment advertisement, their applications will not be considered.
(i) As invitations or notifications may be sent to candidates by e-mails, candidates should provide an accurate e-mail address in their application forms. Candidates are responsible for checking their e-mails to ensure that invitation or notification will be duly received.

How to apply

(a) Hong Kong students studying in local post-secondary institutions should apply through the Student Affairs Offices/Career Centres of their respective institutions. They are advised to note the deadlines set by the respective institutions.
(b) Students studying in non-local post-secondary institutions should download application forms on the website of the Civil Service Bureau (http://www.csb.gov.hk/english/admin/appoint/782.html). The completed application form should be posted to the enquiry address via their respective institutions, or by the applicant with the original reference letter issued by his/her respective institution by 24 April 2020 (according to postmark). Applications not made in the prescribed application form for the summer internship programme, or submitted by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
(c) Please mark “Application for Summer Intern (General)” on the envelope (the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application). Applications which are late, incomplete or without the required supporting documents will not be considered. Please ensure that sufficient postage is paid. An applicant will bear any consequences arising from not paying sufficient postage.
(d) Those who have not received an invitation for interview by 22 June 2020 may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
