Entry Requirements

Candidates should
(a) have a bachelors’ degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent;
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 (Note) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent;
(c) have good command of spoken and written English and Chinese;
(d) have sound knowledge of computer operation preferably; and
(e) have legal training or experience in legal work preferably.

'Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. 

Duties

(a) To perform general administration and management work such as resource management, systems and records management, project planning, collection and analysis of statistical information, compilation of reports, committee work, etc.;
(b) To provide administrative support to initiatives/schemes including the processing of applications, handling of complaints/ enquiries from the public and liaison with staff of District Offices and related matters;
(c) To assist in the organisation of regional activities and training workshops, etc.; and
(d) To assist in drafting and preparation of minutes and briefs, co-ordinating logistics for the smooth running of the meetings, liaising with the government departments and other parties concerned.

Terms of Appointment

The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Home Affairs Department and the candidate’s performance.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$26,000 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of a contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct (applicable where the contract period is no less than one year and the contractual conditions are met). Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15 % of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. (1) Application Forms [G.F. 340(Rev. 3/2013)] are obtainable from Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or Job Centres of Labour Department. The form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).
(2) Completed application form together with photocopies of academic result/certificates and employment proofs (e.g. employment certificates, reference letters, etc.) should reach Division IV, Home Affairs Department by post or in person on or before the closing date for application. For submission by post, the date of application is based on the stamp chop date. For submission in person, the application should reach Division IV, Home Affairs Department by 6 p.m. of the closing date. Please specify on the envelope “Application for Executive Assistant\". Late applications or applications which are incomplete or without the relevant supporting documents will not be considered.
(3) Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation about 8 to 10 weeks after the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
