A Workman II is mainly deployed on –
(a) indoor and outdoor receipt and despatch duties;
(b) general labour duties such as loading and unloading departmental vehicles, moving stores, furniture, office equipment and other bulky items;
(c) general office support duties including photocopying work, meeting venue set-up, operating simple office equipment, opening and locking office doors, and manning reception counters;
(d) cleaning and tidying work in office areas; and
(e) pantry duties such as boiling water, cleaning tea urns and replenishing distilled water.
(Remark: Workmen II may be required to work shifts, irregular hours, overtime, outdoor and in adverse weather conditions. They are subject to posting and transfer within the department to which they are appointed, and are also subject to posting to fill vacancies and carry out different duties in the same grade in other bureaux / departments when the need arises.)
Terms of Appointment
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 ($13,730 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 ($16,175 per month) [Note 1]
General Notes
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. For submission by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of mail items, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Office and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate.
