A Workman II is mainly deployed on –
(a)general cleansing duties, and disposal of waste including clinical waste;
(b)manual labour duties, such as moving furniture / equipment, loading and unloading of heavy objects, transporting and lifting patients;
(c)receipt and dispatch duties including indoor and outdoor collection and delivery of pathological specimens, x-ray films, documents, mails and other articles;
(d)general administrative support and clinic ancillary duties, such as photocopying and stamping / sorting of documents and paper records, opening and locking of doors, keeping order of patients in clinics, packing and labeling forms and pharmaceutical containers;
(e)pantry service;
(f)relieving staff in the Artisan Segment (such as Darkroom Technician, Laboratory Attendant, Artisan) and Property Attendant, Workman I or Office Assistant ranks; and
(g)handling other laboring / menial duties in clinics, laboratories and public mortuaries such as clearing and disposal of vomits, blood-caked surgical dressings, soiled linens, used sharps, stock cultures and contaminated substances, according to safety procedures.
Remarks :
(1)Subject to deployment to any institutes or places, such as Government clinics, methadone centres, centres / clinics under Special Preventive Programme, public mortuaries, quarantine camps as and when required.
(2)Subject to deployment to take up different types of duties to meet operational needs.
(3)May be required to work outdoors, overtime, irregular hours, shifts or in times of inclement weather.
(4)Required to wear uniform and name badge.
Terms of Appointment
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he / she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.\r\n\r\nRemark :\r\nWorkman II is subject to posting to fill vacancies and carry out different duties in the same grade in other bureaux / departments when the need arises.\r\n
Salary and Fringe Benefits
Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 ($13,040 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 ($15,365 per month)
