Entry Requirements

Candidates should –
(a) (i) have a diploma in music from a recognised institution, or equivalent; or
(ii) have an associate diploma conferred by a recognised music institution through public examination, or equivalent;
(b) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (i)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(c) be able to speak fluent Cantonese.
Remarks
(i) For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(ii) Candidates should state clearly in their applications their full record of employment, academic qualifications (including major subject(s) for which the relevant diploma / associate diploma was awarded) and Chinese and English languages proficiency level. Applications which did not provide all information as requested or which are not clear that the candidates have met the entry requirements will not be considered.
(iii) All qualifications required should be obtained on or before the application deadline. Qualifications obtained after the application deadline will not be considered.
(iv) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment.
 

Duties

An Assistant Music Officer II (Activities and Promotion) is mainly deployed to:
(a) assist Music Officer (Activities and Promotion) [MO(A&P)] in the research, planning, co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of music promotion activities; and to act as the project manager of small/medium-scale projects;
(b) assist MO(A&P) in the programme coordination, provide logistic support to major events and to act as the manager of the “Music-for-Millions” ensembles;
(c) assist in promoting Music Office services and in public relations matters; and to oversee the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the marketing strategies for small/ medium-scale projects;
(d) liaise with other parties in relation to small/medium-scale projects for follow-up arrangements, and to attend meetings of local arts organisations of district level as Music Office’s representative;
(e) assist MO(A&P) in administrative matters related to the organisation of music activities; to prepare proposals, reports and to provide suggestions on new initiatives and for enhancement of the services; and to serve as secretary of internal meetings; and
(f) supervise the work of temporary and part-time staff.

(Note: Members of the grade – (i) May be required to work irregular hours; and (ii) are subject to posting and transfer within their respective streams at the discretion of the Head of Grade / Department.)

Terms of Appointment

A new appointee will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Master Pay Scale Point 13 (HK$27,340 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 23 (HK$44,325 per month)

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment.
