Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

(a) be students who will advance to the second or senior year of full-time degrees, preferably in the stream of Communications and Journalism, Business Administration, Education or Social Sciences in the 2020/21 school year;

(b) be proficient in Chinese typing and computer applications, such as MS Excel, MS Word, etc.; and

(c) have a good command of written Chinese and English, and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English.

Duties

The internship aims to provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to learn about how the Sai Kung District Office (SKDO) operates at the district level. Supervised by the Assistant District Officers (Sai Kung), the intern will learn about the functions and roles of SKDO and other relevant departments and gain insight into the work processes of SKDO. Duties of the intern include:

(a) To assist in project evaluation and reporting by creating success stories with event participants and producing / updating the contents of promotional materials, including websites, videos, various social media platforms, brochures, flyers, booklets and leaflets, etc. with service contractors;

(b) To provide executive support to Assistant District Officers by conducting desktop research, compiling information, editing meeting minutes, etc.; and

(c) To assist in handling of public enquiries by organising data and feedback gathered from relevant departments and preparing the logistics for site visits.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms from the date of appointment to 31 August 2020.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$10,500 per month
Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. Summer Interns are subject to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. (a) Hong Kong students studying in local post-secondary institutions must apply through the Student Affairs Offices/Career Centres of their respective institutions. They are advised to note the deadlines set by the respective institutions.

(b) Students studying in non-local post-secondary institutions must complete the Applications Form for Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme, which can be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (https://www.csb.gov.hk/english/admin/appoint/782.html). Completed application form together with copies of academic qualifications should reach the enquiry address below by post or in person on or before the closing date. For submission by post, the deadline is based on the stamp chop date. Please affix sufficient stamp to ensure delivery in order. For submission in person, the application should reach the enquiry address below by 6:00p.m. of the closing date. Please specify on the envelope “Application for the Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2020 (SKDO)”. Late applications or applications which are incomplete or without the relevant supporting documents will not be considered.

(c) Applications who are not invited for interview within 2 months from the closing date may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
