Entry Requirements

Candidates should have
(a) a Higher Diploma in Geomatics/Land Surveying and Geoinformatics, or a Diploma/Higher Certificate in Land Surveying and Cartography, from a Hong Kong Polytechnic University/Polytechnic or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/Technical College/Technical Institute, or equivalent [Note(1)] ; and
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [Note(2)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.
Remarks
(1) Candidates without the requisite academic qualification stated in entry requirement (a) above, but who are undergoing studies with a view to obtaining the requisite qualification in the 2019/20 academic year may also apply; if selected, appointment will be subject to their obtaining the requisite academic qualification within the 2019/20 academic year.
(2) For civil service appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(3) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment.
 

Duties

A Survey Officer (Land) is mainly deployed on
(a) carrying out surveying tasks including field surveying, computing and plotting;
(b) undertaking Land Information System related data input and updating work; and
(c) checking plans.

(Note: May be posted to other government departments and be required to work irregular hours, work in any part of Hong Kong and work outdoor in heavy traffic, hilly and remote areas and in inclement weather conditions.)

Terms of Appointment

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Master Pay Scale Point 9 (HK$22,725 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 22 (HK$44,555 per month)

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.
