Entry Requirements

Candidates should have (a) a Certificate in civil engineering studies from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of (i) Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note (2)]; and (ii) Secondary 3 standard or above in Chinese Language, or equivalent.

Remarks
1. All qualifications required should be obtained on or before the closing date for application.
2. For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
3. For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their BL knowledge. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate's overall assessment.
 

Duties

A Works Supervisor II (Civil) is mainly deployed on (a) assisting in site supervision of civil and geotechnical engineering works, and foundation and demolition works for sites under the Housing Authority's purview; (b) preparing site records; and (c) carrying out structural investigation, sample monitoring and sampling work.

Terms of Appointment

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
