Entry Requirements

Candidates should –
(a) be Corporate Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) in the Quantity Surveying Division, or equivalent;
(b) have at least one year's post-qualification experience in quantity surveying; and
(c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. [See Note (A) & (B)]
Remarks
(A) Grade C and Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 3 and Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(B) Candidates should obtain all the above-mentioned entry requirements on or before the closing date of application.
(C) Successful candidates may be employed by other government Bureaux/Departments.
 

Duties

A Contract Quantity Surveyor is mainly deployed on executing the following duties on architectural or engineering projects –
(a) performing pre-contract and post-contract aspects of quantity surveying duties, e.g. cost estimates, bills of quantities, contract documents, tender assessment and reporting, interim valuation of works, settlement of final accounts and claims;
(b) providing professional advice to various Government Departments and quasi-government organizations;
(c) undertaking related duties, e.g. technical audit on selected projects, employment and management of consultants, and research and development;
(d) performing project management duties as assigned; and
(e) supervising junior staff employed on any duties connected with the above. [See Note (C)]

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

HK$53,190 per month
An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Application Forms (G.F. 340 [(Rev. 3/2013)]) are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk).

Please specify the title of the position being applied for on the envelope. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Copies of the relevant transcripts/diplomas/certificates/proof of relevant working experience/other qualification documents (i.e. Certificate of Registration as a Corporate Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) in the Quantity Surveying Division, or equivalent) are required to be submitted together with the completed application forms.

Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
