Entry Requirements

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, or equivalent;
(b) A good command of both Chinese and English;
(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [Notes (ii) to (v)];
(d) Possess good communication skills, fluent in spoken English, Putonghua or other languages preferred;
(e) Able to work and solve problems independently;
(f) Proficiency in the application of common business software (Microsoft Office Word and Excel);
(g) 2 years' post-qualification full-time working experience with good job records;
(h) Working experience in customer service or administering subsidy schemes preferred; and
(i) Working experience in schools, public organizations or government departments/ bureaux preferred.
Remarks
(i) The application period for the post of Assistant Manager (Special Duties) is from 22 April 2022 (Friday) to 10 May 2022 (Tuesday).
(ii) The results of the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers of the CRE are classified as Level 2, Level 1 or Fail, with Level 2 being the highest. Level 2 and Level 1 results of the two language papers obtained from December 2006 onwards are of permanent validity. Applicants with valid requisite results in the UC and UE papers obtained in previous CREs are deemed to have met the language proficiency entry requirement (c) of the post.
(iii) Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) is accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 5 or above in English Language of the HKDSEE is accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE.
(iv) Grade C or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) is accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UC paper of the CRE. Grade C or above in Use of English of the HKALE or in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level) is accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE.
(v) An overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test is accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the UE paper of the CRE. The IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period.
(vi) This post is open to male and female applicants.
(vii) Main working place: Kwun Tong or Tamar. Irregular work hours may be required.
 

Duties

(a) To process applications for the Student Grant including data verification, handling exceptional cases, conducting random checks, and handle enquiries and complaints from the applicants, schools and the public;
(b) To assist in liaising with relevant Bureaux/ Departments/ Divisions and schools in processing applications and disbursement of the Student Grant, including arranging distribution and collection of forms and conducting user acceptance tests of Information Technology system enhancement;
(c) To assist in drafting/ updating school circular memorandum and guidance notes for application of the Student Grant, and prepare/ update related documents for the publicity campaigns and internal reference materials (e.g. operation manuals, briefs, reports, meeting minutes, etc.);
(d) To assist in the matters related to the Grant Schools Provident Fund (GSPF) and Subsidized Schools Provident Fund (SSPF) and appointment in aided schools;
(e) To provide administrative, secretarial and logistics support to various meetings relating to the G/SSPF and appointment in aided schools;
(f) To assist in conducting user acceptance tests of the system enhancement related to the G/SSPF, e-Appointment System for Aided Schools and other electronic forms; and
(g) To assist in organizing briefing sessions and meetings with relevant Bureaux/ Departments/ Divisions and perform administrative duties and any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for one year.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$31,750 per month
(a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave / paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
