Entry Requirements

Candidates should have -
(a) (i) Level 2 or equivalent [Note 1] or above in five subjects in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) [Note 2], or equivalent; or
(ii) Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note 2], or equivalent;
(b) Met the language proficiency requirement of Level 2 [Note 2] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent;
(c) Familiar with common business software and good Chinese and English word processing skills.
Remarks
1. ‘Attained’ in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and ‘Grade E’ in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to ‘Level 2’ in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
2. ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
 

Duties

(a) To provide general administrative and clerical support;
(b) To provide support services for the operation of particular schemes or events;
(c) To provide reception services and assist in customer services duties;
(d) To assist in handling enquiries and complaints from the public;
(e) To provide labouring services including the issue and receipt of stores; and
(f) To discharge any other duties as and when required.

Remarks:
(a) Successful candidates will be assigned to work in different office locations at the sole discretion of the Labour Department and the work arrangements in respective offices will be subject to the service needs of the offices concerned. However, the successful candidates will not be eligible for posting.

(b) May be required to perform outdoor work and work overtime, irregular hours or shifts, and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months. Further renewal of contract will be considered subject to the appointee’s performance and conduct and the service needs of the Labour Department.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$12,900 per month
(a) 10 days of annual leave, full pay sickness allowance and maternity/paternity leave.
(b) Other benefits, such as rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

General Notes

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (https://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed application forms together with photocopies of academic certificates, and photocopies of supporting document of professional qualifications and working experience (if applicable) should reach Human Resource Section, Labour Department, 16/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong on or before the closing date of application.

Please specify on the envelope “Application for Contract Support Service Assistant”. If by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application. On-line application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk) before the closing date of application.

Candidates who apply on-line should submit photocopies of academic certificates, and photocopies of supporting documents of professional qualifications and working experience (if applicable) by post within one week after the close of application period to the above address.
