Entry Requirements

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in English, or equivalent [See Note (i)];
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
(c) A Certificate in Teaching of English as a Foreign/Second Language, or equivalent preferred;
(d) At least 12 years' post-degree relevant working experience in English language education, of which at least 2 years of experience deals with school, panel or project management related to promotion of English learning and teaching [See Note (ii)];
(e) Experience in curriculum development in the English Language Education Key Learning Area preferred;
(f) Experience in designing, coordinating and conducting teacher professional development programmes and designing or implementing support programmes for special educational needs students preferred;
(g) Experience in leading and coordinating literacy programme development preferred;
(h) Native English proficiency in both oral and written;
(i) Strong ability to work under pressure;
(j) A sound knowledge of a repertoire of pedagogical strategies and latest trends in using technology to support language learning and teaching;
(k) Good leadership skills;
(l) Good consultancy skills; and
(m) Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
Remarks

Duties

(a) To lead a School Support Team (SST) and coordinate the team's work on developing, implementing, reviewing and refining strategies in support of the Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Scheme in Primary Schools;
(b) To supervise the daily work of the Advisory Teachers serving on the SST;
(c) To lead ad hoc task groups and coordinate their work, covering the administration of an annual online survey to collect schools' feedback on the NET Section's advisory support, the building of the NET Section's capacity to cater for the wide-ranging support needs of public-sector primary schools, including schools enrolling students with intellectual disabilities (ID), and the design of the evaluation of the NET Scheme in Primary Schools; and
(d) To undertake any other duties assigned.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 2 years.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$93,710 per month
(a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave/paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
