Entry Requirements

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in Chinese, Education (majoring in Chinese Language) or Psychology, or equivalent;
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
(c) Level 3 [See Note 1] or above in Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(d) A total of six years' relevant teaching experience includes teaching and/or providing support to students with special educational needs, or equivalent; and
(e) Applicants with experience in developing school-based curriculum or resources on helping upper primary students or secondary school students to develop reading and writing skills in Chinese / supporting students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) / implementing the Tiered Intervention Model (the Model) will have an advantage.
Remarks
1. For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
2. Eligible applicants will be required to attend an interview and a written examination. Successful applicants will report for duty on or before 3 February 2020.
3. Applicants should state clearly in their applications details of their academic qualifications and experience and attach copies of the relevant documents. Applications which are incomplete, are not made in the prescribed form [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)], or submitted by fax or e-mail, or applications which are late, or not duly signed by the candidates, or without sufficient supporting documents, will NOT be considered.
 

Duties

(a) To be responsible for the development of the curriculum resources for the extension of the Tiered Intervention Model (the Model) to upper primary classes and secondary classes, with specific foci on: (i) initiating, planning and conducting teacher networking activities on the development of curriculum resources for use in extension of the Model; (ii) participating in school-based working meetings and network meetings on resources development and curriculum adaptation; (iii) supporting school personnel to develop resources and try-out the effective teaching strategies for extension of the Model to upper primary and secondary class levels; (iv) making lesson observation and providing feedback to teachers afterwards to refine the teaching and learning programmes; (v) supporting school personnel to conduct parent training in respect of the Model; and (vi) supporting schools to plan for the long term implementation of the Model;
(b) To direct and assist in the collection, compilation and production of resources materials in support of the implementation of the Model to upper primary and secondary classes;
(c) To enhance the skills of school personnel and related professionals in implementing the Model to support students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) through (i) rendering professional school-based support; (ii) delivering territory-wide/theme-based workshops/seminars; (iii) facilitating cross-fertilisation of expertise through networking participating schools for dissemination of good practices and providing consultation service as appropriate;
(d) To collaborate with schools and other educational institutions on resource development and extension of the Model, and
(e) To perform any ad hoc duties as assigned.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

$58,510 per month
(a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
